Biesele designs use magnetically loaded coils as the principle pickup system. So long as the strings use steel in their manufacture their vibrations will induce a signal current in the coils that is much less prone to feedback than either a piezo pickup or a microphone. The rich low frequency response of the coils make it far easier to play at an amplified volume with a full, even bass tone.

INDIVIDUAL STRING VOLUME CONTROL
The coils, wired in a humbucking configuration, are each provided with a trim adjustment. It is therefore possible to adjust the signal level for each string independently allowing for an overall string to string balance. The trim controls are accessible from the sides of the housings.
